The Post-Modern Prometheus

Dailies are the raw, unedited footage recorded during a day of filming. They often include slates, repeated takes, alternate performances, and material that never appears in the finished episode. The production team reviewed them to evaluate performances, coverage, focus, sound, and continuity before the episode was edited.

From a private collection, shared with permission. Two takes from the Cher concert at the end of 5X06, straight from the camera before they were edited: one unbroken take that drifts through the fog and the crowd while Mulder and Scully dance, and take 6 of the Great Mutato dancing at their table. The episode aired in black and white. These tape copies had a blue cast and tape noise, which have been cleaned up. The dance keeps the sound recorded on set, with no music; take 6 has no sound.
