sitting or standing or doing whatever the hell we can get him to
do for the shot, probably.) He's SOAKING WET.
Mulder hears the meowing, rolling over onto his stomach to see
the ‘cat; Still, gasping for air.
ANGLE: OVER CAT THROUGH DOORS TO MULDER
He's staring_a the cat. And staring. Realizing something now,
which conptpels him to find the strength to start crawling. Toward
the banging doors, toward the cat, toward the hurricane outside.

An expertly applied bandage is being lifted, revealing the

: INT. DALES' TRAILER - DAY
It's Arthur Dales who's got the bandage lifted, looking at the
wounds with a wincing expression.
DALES
E-gads. I had no idea --
They both react to the a knock on the door, which is already
partially open. Scully pushing through.

That you'd come here in the face

bringing new life into the

MULDER
She didn't save me --

MULDER
I saw the Shipley's cat --
DALES
Son, all due respect -- even I

MULDER
No -- the cat had been in the
washing machine, and it'd been
saved, while the Shipleys'd
boarded themselves up in the
house and only could've vanished
if the creature had come up
through the plumbing in a
backwash of seawater --
(Dales is rolling his

Deputy disappeared --
Dales gets up, playing to Scully. Moving to the cupboard.

Takes a big man to admit it,
Agent Mulder -- but if I'd had

why I might never've retired.
_ Now Mulder rolls it eyes, as Dales pulls a bottle of booze out
of the cabinet. Grabbing three glasses, pouring.
DALES
So, I think it fitting we toast
